February 25, 2007 Brazilian Soul Comes to WCOM

Featuring NC Jazz Music and NC Jazz Musicians - Paulo Lopes (Brazilian Soul), from Sao Paulo, is now living in Chapel Hill, NC and plays guitar and violin; and sings in restaurants and clubs in the area; and teaches guitar, violin and piano. He was joined in the WCOM radio studio by his son, Victor, who is a percussionist and soon to turn fourteen. Victor played a hot Pandeiro drum and Paulo played the guitar and the Surdo, a large Brazilian Drum. They were a wonderful combination and clearly were having great fun playing music together. Most of the songs were Brazilian but one was Italian and Paulo dedicated it to our Milano jazz musician friends, Fabio and Paulo, who were guests on my show a few weeks ago as they passed from LA back to Milano, Italy. Paulo can be reached to perform or to teach (guitar, piano, violin) at www.brazilian-soul.com and info@brazilian-soul.com.
My radio show, Melva's Musings on Jazz, is broadcast from the studio of WCOM in Carrboro, NC. You can hear my show every Sunday night from 7:00 - 9:00 EST at 103.5 fm on the dial. Better yet, you can hear this 100 Watts of Wonder station on the internet anywhere in the world by going to the WCOM website at www.communityradio.coop and clicking on the button in the upper right-hand corner for web-streaming (web-broadcast). Our webstream is hosted by ibiblio. Call in a request during the show, and say 'hi', by calling 919 929-2601. I always like hearing from friends and jazz fans.
